Mustafa Koc's Substack
I hope to make this space accessible to readers interested in seeking ideas for food system change, addressing food insecurity, and new developments in food policy and food politics.
Why did I join Substac
I retired from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU)—formerly Ryerson—in January 2024 after serving over 30 years as a professor at the Department of Sociology and as one of the founders and Directors of the Centre for Studies in Food Security. As a professor emeritus, I have less time to share my insights with my students and friends, so I will use this space to share my observations and reactions to world affairs.
I hope to make this space accessible to readers interested in seeking ideas for food system change, addressing food insecurity, and new developments in food policy and food politics.
I plan to start slowly as I am new to this process, but I intend to make these commentaries more frequent. In my youth, I had lots of answers and a few questions. Now, I have more questions and fewer answers. I aim to reach out to other curious people who are willing to search for answers with me.
I plan to write weekly columns every Thursday. I believe in open access and will make these weekly columns accessible and free to all subscribers.
